Meyou's choked sobs echoed as she awoke, having had a bad dream. Her eyes were blurred once she opened them, cold tears rolling down her youthful face. She quickly erased them from her cheeks, though didn't stop crying. Her dream must've been a clue to her past, she thought, as it was so nightmarish . . and real, too. That, and it seemed as if it took place during her childhood. She remembered the face of a blonde human, one who smiled down at her with all the love of a mother, and Meyou supposed that this might've been a relative. The background was of a simple and tidy kitchen. Then the view changed. She was now outside in her dream, on the grass. Two objects in her hands, though she didn't know what. It didn't strike her that maybe she'd been playing with the objects, but that wasn't what her focus was on. In the dream she felt a rush of worry and confusion, her eyes turning sideways to view a lovely cottage. The only problem was, the cottage was leaning to it's side. It was tilted, and gravity was pulling it down even more. Again, confusion and worry. The whole view changed to black, then to the blonde's pale face. Her once smooth and warm features flawed by blood and bruise, Meyou looked away and felt like throwing up. She awoke just then, crying hard, whimpering, holding herself as if she were her own soft little cuddle-toy.
The words echoed in her head, Your mother is dead. The syllables were so unexpected, Meyou gasped and moaned in despair, burying her face in her skinny hands and sobbing. "No, no! Meyou does not believe! It can't be, she just doesn't believe it! S-stop it! No!" She said to the air, just as if someone was standing in front of where she sat, pointing down and laughing at her for simply expressing her deepest fears. Mocking her for being sad, alone, and confused. That is what Meyou felt like. Hopelessly lost.

Melchior stood under a tree. The shadows of the leaves wisped across his face mysteriously. He could sense someone's pain. He had no idea how close this person could be, but the feeling was so strong, she might as well have been standing right next to him. With his hands in his pockets, he followed the intensity of the pain, his head began to throb, the confusion. Yet his expression remained emotionless. His eyes continued to stare forward, courageously determined. He searched beneath every tree, scanning for the source of desperation.
Finally, he stumbled upon a small, frail figure. She was quite pretty, but looked so sad and forgotten. He leaned down, his face still emotionless and reached into his coat. He touched her face gently, holding eye contact, and placed a small cantene of water and a loaf of bread, wrapped in plastic.
"You should eat," he said quietly, stepping away to lean against a tree across from her. He crossed his arms and watched her. His heart wrenched, calling out, screaming at him to get away from such pain, but he continued to watch her. His head throbbed and his legs felt like jell-o as he leaned against the tree. Such intensity coming from a small girl. Losing himself in thought, his eyes changed. His cold, intense stare was replaced with a sympathetic, caring look. But only his eyes changed. His face never once twisted or distorted even slightly.
"I wonder what is paining her so," he thought, directing those words towards Balthasar. "I don't know but i can feel it to. She's so lost, Melchior... She needs help," Balthasar and Melchior continued to communicate silently as he watched over the young girl.

Meyou continued to sob, and couldn't help the tears that had her cheeks itching. Even if an attractive young man had, suddenly, come out of no where from the abyss of Meyou's tears, and kindly offered her a canteen of water and fresh bread. She couldn't speak, not even nod, as the tears only kept their over flow. Meyou only looked down at the food and drink, feeling no appetite whatsoever. She just stared down, teeth clenched, her large cat ears pressing down against her skull, her tail limp. Meyou clenched her stomach, grimacing as she peered back up at the stranger. What was he doing here? How did he ever find her? Was he a hunter? No, he couldn't of been a hunter. If he was, she'd have been dead by now. Or captured.
Few minutes more was all she needed to calm down, occasionally murmuring to the air. She bit her lip as she wiped the last of her tears from her face. The image of the once loving and living face of her mother engraved in her mind, possibly for the rest of her life. Again, she noticed the food and drink she'd been given, and never really thought of appreciating it. She unwrapped the bread and devoured every single crumb, the food energizing her greatly. The water also felt good rushing along her hot and dry throat, hydrating her. She struggled to get up, but only found herself on the ground again. Meyou frowned and grunted, deciding to gaze at the stranger with all due curiosity. "May Meyou ask who one is?" asked the girl to the man, quite softly.

Melchior was lost in thought. "I'm... Melchior," he replied absent mindedly. He drew in a breath and held it a minute as if he was thinking of something to say. "I am... a traveller," he told Meyou. That's the only thing he could think of. He very well didn't want to tell her he was an ex-mercenary. She already looked frightened enough. He could feel an uncomfortable-ness coming from Balthasar. "Something wrong?" he asked Balthasar without taking his eyes off of Meyou. "No... Nothing... It's nothing," she replied silently. She was having issues with trying to lie Melchior's way out of this one too. There was a long pause before he thought of something. "Do you need help... How did you end up way out here?" he asked Meyou. He was out here because he enjoyed the forest. He was also looking for something, but he didn't know what yet.

Meyou tried to grin warmly at him, despite how horrible the previous minutes were. She managed to give him a small three second grin, which faded quickly. She blunk at his question, pausing to bite her tongue before answering. "Meyou does need help, yes . . and she's being chased by hunters. She doubts they're far away, it'll only be 'few hours until they catch up with her." She said nervously, her ears lowering as she looked away from Melchior and into the forest. "She doubts Melchior's a hunter, 'cos Meyou'd be dead or captured by now." Meyou smiled sourly, looking back at the man. Her tail twitched, as if impatient. She was indeed impatient - she didn't want her legs to be sleeping when every minute could've been used running. "Eh . . erm . ."

Melchior looked down at her questioningly, then he looked out in the direction she had glanced. He loved a good fight, but this girl needed to escape more than anything. He let a cynical grin slide across his face at the thought of all the action he had already gotten into without even bothering to look for it. "Come, follow me," he said briskly and took her hand.

She flushed when that grin of his spread across his face, and couldn't help but think: what's he gonna do with Meyou? Of course, it couldn't have been anything good, as she had never seen a grin more mischevious than his. However, she let him take her hand, she didn't want to waste anymore energy arguing. Meyou grimaced, her eyebrows furrowing, this day was probably to be an enigma.

Melchior picked her up and jumped into a tree and shot across the forest, almost gliding, his hair blowing across his forehead furiously, revealing a strange mark that looked like windmill blades. "Show off," Balthasar whispered. He was headed in the direction that Meyou had been looking. Not even entirely sure what he was planning on doing, he jsut smiled slightly and kept going, carrying Meyou further into the forest.

Meyou looked up at his face, a bit wide eyed, she supposed it was because of the marking imprinted upon his forehead. Meyou looked away, the air tickling her ears. She almost giggled, but stifled it. Meyou was also a bit befuddled, as the man was headed straight for the hunter's camp. She looked up at him, not daring to speak, but with a look that obviously read "what in heaven's name are you doing?". She pursed her lips.

Melchior could sense the tension coming from Meyou and looked down. He looked at her, his face softening. "Trust me," he whispered as he looked up and continued running from tree to tree.
He quickened the pace as he saw the light ahead. "That must be the hunter's camp," he told Balthasar excitedly. Balthasar sent him a negative vibe. "No, you must remember, you have a young maiden under your protection. You'll have plenty of time to find others to fight, you need to get her to safety." Melchior grimaced unknowingly. "I know, but I want them so bad," he replied emphasizing badly. Then he became aware of Meyou again. His face straightened and he pulled her closer to him, passing right through the camp silently.
His heart was pounding with adrenaline, he could even feel Balthasar's intensity. "I want to take them as much as you, but we HAVE to leave... And quickly," Balthasar said hastily.

The girl closed her eyes as they neared and passed the camp, quietly whimpering. She had to trust the man who carried her. Had to. Why? Because she didn't have much energy by herself, she couldn't run, and she was frail - so that if she were to be wounded, it would cause a great deal of pain to her. Her being rested in his arms, literally, if he actually was helping. She didn't open her eyes, not just yet.

(OOC: please excuse the poor typing... i cut my hands up real bad tonight on a diving board)Melchior relaxed, hearing the familiar sound of running water in the distance. He turned East and headed in the direction of the sound, gradually slowing down the closer he got. He jumped down from the tree branch effortlessly and placed Meyou on a rock near the falls. He straightened his coat and turned his back, walking behind the water. A moment later, he returned with a blanket in his hands. Melchior heaved a sigh and placed the blanket around Meyou's shoulders. Still silent, he walked over to the river bank and kneeled, splashing the water in his face and drinking it as well. The water was so cold it caused his throat to ache all the way down. Wiping his face with his sleeve, he turned to Meyou and stared at her with an indifferent expression. His head still pounded slightly from the emotions, but it was not as strong. Either he was finally getting useed to her, or she wasn't as sad as before. Now he sensed an underlying feeling of fear and confusion. He couldn't help but admit to himself that he was still a mercenary, hungry for work or money, or food. He could just turn the girl over to the hunters for a negotiated fee. "Greed will be your downfall," Balthasar scolded him. "Hush, I can't do it anyway. There's something about this girl.... I can not put my finger on it. But I wouldn't be able to turn her over like that anyway... Even if a reward is involved," Melchior fumed defensively. The amber and green rimmed dragon eye on the sword blinked in amazement. "Growing a... heart are we?" Balthasar mused. Melchior could see the magnificent golden colored dragon, flapping its gracefull red-tipped wings and swinging its massive tail, the end colored as if it had been dipped in blood, the tail still looked wet the scales were so shiny. The image was laughing, short spurts of flames licking the air. The dragon had been cursed. Placed in a sword, destined to live forever in the conscience of the holder. Melchior scoffed and spat at the ground defiantly. "Take your time, you don't have to talk if you do not wish, but the mroe I know... The more I am able to help you. All I really need to know, I suppose, is... why are these hunters searching for you?" Melchior asked Meyou. He was sincere in what he meant for once. He shook his head violently, causing the hair to fall in his eyes.

+ ouch. it's alright. + Meyou's eyes slowly opened as she was placed on the ground, her legs still feeling weak. She exhaled, as she had unknowingly held her breath. Her eyes glinted as she watched Melchior, looking up at him with curiosity as he wrapped the blanket around her shoulders. She watched him as he splashed the water to his face, and drank it. Meyou watched him silently, pulling the blanket tighter around herself somewhat protectively, shuddering, and sighing as he asked his question. She was unsure to tell him or not. She could lie, but she was always dishonest. Well, only when it came to merchants. Meyou smiled at herself for being so damn ignorant. Ignorance is what she called it, anyway. "Meyou . ." She paused, opening her eyes to look at him uncertainly. "Meyou's wanted. She's done alot of burglary, pickpocketing, an' stealing only from the best merchants, she doesn't think she'd be hunted for just minority crimes like pickpocketing." Meyou gazed at him with innocence, smiling. "She's also wanted 'cos she's the daughter of a Fur Child an' human, a hybrid, someone who was never meant to be . ." She trailed off, remembering the dream she had just last night. Her eyes suddenly narrowed and she looked from him and at the waterfall. "Melchior . . isn't gonna give her in, is he? Please don't if one was considering it, M-Meyou still needs to . . solve . . a mystery." She bit her lower lip, her ears going flat against her scalp, as if she was waiting to be smacked.

OOC: reminds me of my cat when it bites me!!!
Melchior studied the girl. "What am i going to do?" he thought, struggling with his instinct to think only for himself. He sighed and drooped inconspicuously (S/P!??). "..." He scratched uncomfortably at the back of his head. "Well... No. I'm not going to turn you in. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do," he laughed nervously. "GOD! What have I gotten myself INTO!?" he screamed silently. Hearing voices in the distance, he jumped over to Meyou and picked her up, before she could even breathe. Glancing backward, he shot back into the trees, the blanket still wrapped around Meyou tightly. "Shit," he cursed at Balthasar. The dragon's head raised, with a grin on his face. "What was that?" he laughed.

Meyou frowned at him. She wished she could stand, and then maybe run, because she felt as if she was burdening him. She hadn't ever socialized once before, but she didn't think charming merchants counted as socializing. She considered it flirting, but she really wasn't interested. The hunters who were following her, she didn't even think they were human, because they had managed to keep pace with her. Meyou whimpered quietly when Melchior picked her up in a flash, literally, and was again bounding along the trees. She pushed herself against his chest, holding the blanket around her shoulders, keeping her view away from his face. Should she have considered this kidnapping? Nah, she had no family. The thought made her wince, 'no family'. She bit her tongue and furrowed her eyebrows, frustrated.
