"Yeah, well...Have you heard of the troubles the caravans that go through the Golden Desert are having?" Roki asked. She was referring to the huge desert in the center of the country. It was ringed by mountains, so practically the only way to get across was straight through the desert.

Sakuya titled her head, thinking. Finally she nodded. "Yes, I think so." she replied. "But I havent heard why they are having troubles, only the trouble part reached me." she said, her eyes and manner alive with curiousity.

Roki cocked her head slightly, saying, "Well, there's this cat, y'see. She's named Thakil, I think. Apparently, she self-proclaimed herself ruler of the desert. She's been attacking and theiving from the caravans. She's wanted for a pretty penny."

The snow leopard snorted, the sound fairly loud. "I should say so, thieving from so many caravans. I bet she's enjoying the attention." she said, leaning back against tree. It seemed she did that often, finding it easier and less tireing than standing up most of the time.

Daneidi chuckled. "Hot, yes, but dry as anythin' else. Deserts are caused by drought, after all." She'd never been in the middle of any decent desert, but she'd had her taste of those expanses of sagebrush, cacti, and sand.

The snow leopards ears flicked forward again, and interested expresion on her face. "Truely? I didnt know that, I thought they were just natural dry spots." she said, her head tilting to the side. Her tail flicked behind her, as she thought about this new idea.

She shrugged. "They are, really. Mountains or just sheer land mass keeps rains from deserts, making the dry. But you keep any place dry long enough, it'll turn to sand. Deserts're usually hot, just because the heat helps dry 'em out. You can find cold deserts, too. There are some, far north. What do they call them... tumbras, I think? Something close to that. Maybe tundra." She reached in to a pouch at her waist, pulling out a handful of dried meat strips, and began chewing thoughtfully.

Sakuya chuckled. "Those I do know about. They're tundras, wide open places, with little cover." she said, watching the other eat. She raised her head to the sky, her tail twitching behind her. It truely was a lovely day in her opinion.

Icestorm came back to the group. "Aye, tundras." he said. Dryer'n most places, but cold as winter atop the highest mountain during a snowfire." Roki grinned. "Snowfires, eh? Ain't heard mention of them since the king stopped everyone from telling the Snowfire legends."

Daneidi cocked her head to the side, eyes narrowed quizzically. "Snowfire legends? Never heard of 'em." Her face was calm, but her tail was flicking back and forth eagerly. She loved a good story. Maybe she could get one from Roki.

Sakuya also seemed curious, her eyes glittering with the feeling. She had only heard a little of them, since the banning of them, and had always wanted to know more. She glanced at Icestorm. "What, get bored, all by yourself?" she asked, not seeming to be able to let the chance to go by to needle him a little.

Icestorm smiled shyly. "Eh, I didn't know that the king banned 'em. The Snowfire legends. Well, they tell of one of Silna's greatest heroes. Didn't ye know that, lassie?" he purred. "i'm sure I could tell ye, if'n yew two want, but it's a story that takes quite a while, and best told in comfort."

The snow leopard continued to lean back against the tree, her blue eyes bright with curiousity she couldnt hide. "I knew what they were about, I've just never been allowed to hear one." she said. Her ears were flicked forward, her attention focused on him and Roki now. Her tail flicked behind her, against the tree she leaned against.

Daneidi felt a little out of place. "I've never heard of them at all. Well," she revised, "I might of heard bits and pieces of them, but never in context. Guess you can never say for sure what you haven't heard, can ya?"

Roki grinned. "Well, the town o' Krishka's a mile or so off. I know a good place there, where we can get some boarding and Icestorm can tell us his stories. He's the best storyteller I know." she said."Shall we be off?"
