A figure leaned against a tree, watching with sharp, sparkling blue eyes as another larger figure swam in the nearby lake. The first was a woman, though she was wearing a black leather long sleeved top and pants, her mid-riff visiable. She had sharp features, and lightly tanned skin. She was slender, and tall with the look of an agile and gracefull cat about her. When the wind ruffled her long, waist-length, brown hair it revealed pointed ears, for she was really one of the Fair Folk, and Elven Maiden. Or more precisly and Elven Warrior, for upon her back were two twin swords, each silver with sapphires entwinned with silver in the pommels. Along her side on the ground, but in easy reach, was a finely crafted bow, though there was no evidence of a quiver about the warrior. When she moved her hands, light glinted off of two sapphires, also entwinned with silver, embedded in her palms. The second figure was a crystal blue dragoness, though she was smaller in size than most dragons. She appeared very quick, and was an excellent swimmer, which was what was occupying her attention at that moment. She had dazzling blue eyes, her leathery, translucent wings beating against the water to drive her swiftly into a dive towards the bottom of the lake. There were silver spines running along her back, and she had silver teeth and talons. The Elf's name was Sora, the dragoness, and also her bonded's name was Sapphire. Sora's pack lay nearby, in the open, and she didnt appear to be paying much attention to it. She didnt really need to, for it held nothing of real importance to her. All it held were a few of Sapphire's discarded scales, for when they dropped off of her they turned into real sapphires. There was also a few strands of silver, and a few other precious jems along with some food. They didnt carry much with them, and Sora didnt want to lose the pack, but it truely wasnt on her top list of priorities, she wasnt really one for material things.

Sora and Sapphire weren't the only ones at the lake that day for hiding in the black pines was another, cloaked in dark green the only thing visible was the figure's black leather boots with multiple buckles. Though someone watching the figure wouldn't have known she was indeed a woman. Slowly she pulled back her hood to reveal a face with skin as dark as midnight's heart. Her hair was pulled back in a thick black braid which had deep purple ribbons woven in, hanging from her ears were two thick gold hoops engraved with indecipherable runes. She had no visible weapon aside from a sturdy ash staff with a blade fixed to the top.
Her name was Harabi and she was the eldest daughter of the Chief of the Gradulin tribe a mountain clan barely scraping an existence from the rocky soil of their lands. She had left this life in hopes of finding a better one in the south. Now Harabi's travels had taken her to the lake where she now stood watching Sora and Saphira.
"Friend or foe" she said to herself for the people she had encountered had not always been friendly. Harabi trusted no one save for her staff.

Sora still leaned back against the tree, though her eyes took a quick sweep about of the surroundings. She had sensed another's presence, but she didn't know where they were exactly, simply a general direction. She sighed lightly, the sigh barely noticable. She crossed her arms over her chest to wait, for she had no reason to raise her bow yet, besides the other was still to far away, and she didn't see whoever it was. Sapphire continued to swim in the lake, also sensing someone. She surfaced, her scales glittering dazzlinly with the water, and she looked nothing more than a giant version of her namesake. She grinned, showing her silver fangs, then swam about on the surface of the water, occasionally diving into the depths for fun.

Arilyne pulled her mount up short, seeing the pair by the lake. She hadn't been expecting a dragon, she had to admit. She pulled her hood and mask up, hiding everything but her eyes. The girl, 16 years of age, had been travelling on ehr own for some time. 6 years, to be a little more exact. She had been exploring the lands to the west of her usual territory, eager always to be looking for somethign she didn't quite know. Her mount, a tall deer-like creature named Barlin, had smelled water, masked by "liquid earth." It was a smell he had been unused to. Coming closer to the water source, the pair had heard the sound of splashing water. THey now saw the sparkling dragon in the lake, shining brilliantly in the sun. The dragoness was an impressive sight, for sure, but Arilyne wanted to cause no conflict. her clear gray eyes narrowed, as she prompted Barlin down the slope towards the water. Liquid water... an ingenious way to describe the smell that went by like wisps of light past their nostrils. The smell of a dragon... And Arilyne had always thought they were popular myths.

Harabi breathed in the fresh scent of pine sap she was in a friendly mood and decided to risk finding out if Sora was a friend. Harabi had heard good things and bad things about dragons and the people they travelled with. She wasn't to concerned about Sora because she had fought men and elves before but the dragon was a different matter. Harabi looked about her and walked behind the edge of the treeline, she didn't want Sora to see her before she was closer because if Sora was indeed an elf as Harabi had guessed then that bow she carried would be a force to reckoned with. If fighting were to break out then Harabi wanted to have a better chance of survival.
Walking the way her fathe had taught her when stalking deer Harabi approached. She had ti pick her way carefully through a patch of dry leaves but other then that her approach was silent. It would take some excellent hearing to know she was coming. When she was about 20 yards away Harabi pulled herself into a tree and waited. She wished that her horse hadn't died because it's always good to have a quick escape when dealing with strangers.

Sapphire surfaced once more, sensing even more nearby. She grinned once more, her silver fangs glinting before covered up once more. She began to swim slowly towards Arilyne, not using her leatheyr wings, as they were tightly folded against her sides. She tilted her head slightly, then floated atop the water, near the shore. She glanced towards Sora, then back to the newcomers. She didnt sense any threat in them, so she decided to be friendly. ~Hello.~ she thought to both of them, her mind-voice was light, and like a bubbling brook.
Sora felt the person get closer to her, for she had been watching the others approach Sapphire. She tilted her head slightly as she heard the russle of leaves, all elves had good hearing. She stood in one fluent, and cat-like motion, picking up her bow at the same time. She whirled about, drawing back the string of her bow, and aiming it at the figure in the tree, which she now found out happened to be a girl. "Are you friend or foe?" she asked, her voice soft, and calm, her words fluent, and flowing from one word to the next like water. There was no arrow knocked in her bow, some thought that meant she was dumb, or no threat, for she didn'y have a quiver of arrows anywhere about her. Enemy's who thought that never lived very much longer.

Harabi saw the dragon begin to come nearer and was so suprised when she spoke that she nearly dropped her pack. Since she had never encountered a dragon before she wasn't aware that they could talk mind to mind. When she heard the elf speak her head whipped back to face Sora, In answer to Sora's question Harabi replied, "I am no threat to you elf if you wish no harm to me. I have travelled long and my adventures have taught me to trust no one but yourself, as I can see you have learned as well. If it makes you feel any better then I will drop my staff if you'll drop your bow." And with that Harabi let her staff fall to the base of the tree as she jumped down to look Sora in the eye. Harabi lay her pack down near her staff but never taking her eyes off Sora or the dragon if she could help it.

Sapphire seemed to rumble softly with laughter as she felt Harabi's surprise. She floated near the other two still, though it appeared she watched all three newcomers with equal interest.
Sora smiled as she heard Harabi speak, seeming amused by her reaction as well. She lowered her bow, carefully releasing the taut string. She leaned it against the tree trunk, near her own pack. Occasionally the light glinted off of the sapphires in her palms and in the pommels of the swords across her back. "Well spoken. I am Sora, and that is Sapphire." she said, gesturing with one hand towards the dragoness.

Arilyne and the stag both felt a little nervous, with the dragon coming close to them. Neither responded, and she urged the creature closer to the water, wanting only to fill her skins, refresh herself and her companion, and move on. She could now see the elf woman, aiming a bow at someone in the trees. From her distance, she couldn't very much tell that there was no arrow tucked against the string.

Harabi relaxed a little when Sora lay down her bow and saw that they both were woman traveling in a dangerous world and so they both knew the perils of their lifestyle. Harabi picked some pine needles out of her braid and said to Sora,
"Nice to meet you Sora and Sapphire I'm Harabi Eradiasdaughter I'm sorry if I've intruded on these lands if they belong to you I'm just traveling through looking for a life and a hope. You see I'm from the mountians in the north and there was no life there for me. My people barely pull a life from the thin mountian soils and every year there are less of us so I'm on a search for somewhere better."
When she had finished speaking she began to toy with her golden earings out of habit. Suddenly feeling very hungry Harabi bent down to pull a hard travelling bread and a piece of nutty cheese out of her pack.
"Want some?" she asked Sora. while she watched a masked figure on a deer emerge from the trees.

While Arilyne stooped near the water, filling her waterskins (and checking her reflection to be sure her mask was in place), Barlin looked around the lake, pawing a hind hoof in the soft ground, nervous of the dragon's nearness to them. The girl looked up at the stag, having to squint from the sun coming right through his antlers at her. She rested a gloved hand on his leg. "Calm down," she said softly. Her voice was low and rich for a girl's, though melodic. "I don't think it's here to eat us." The deer looked down at her. It's not that, that I'm worried about.[i/] he replied, before dipping his head for a long draught of water.
