Startled from her concentration Harabi looked down at Kith and for a few moments she pondered his question. She didn't know much about the Prince but she had an idea. Harabi jumped down to where Kith was standing so they could continue the convesation more quietly.
"I'm afraid I don't know anything for certian about the Prince but I've heard rumors of an tormented spirit whose quest for immortality cost him his soul. In order to live his life he must take others. Of course I don't know more details but I think he wants our lives. Once he comes it's either him or us. Unfortunatly we don't know if he has others with him or how many there are. Do you want to take next watch I ache all over from sitting in that tree. Oh and has Sora had a chance to try and scry the Prince"
Hoping his response would be a yes she could barely conceal her fatigue. She hadn't slept since her dream of the prince and you can imagine how restful that was. Suddenly an enormus yawn erupted from her dark face. She was nearly dead on her feet and her eyes were like weights. She realized something was not right she had once gone four days on only six hours sleep so why was she so tired? She hoped that no spell had overcome her and that the Prince was hoping to send more greetings.

"I'll take next watch, you look as if you could use a good hour's sleep," he said, I don't think Sora's tried to scy him yet, you should ask her about it when you get back to camp."
He scrambled into the tree, not very gracefully, but he made it. Settling himself as comfortably as he could, he laid his bow across his knees should he need it. He didn't look to see if Harabi had left or not, amber eyes flicking from shadow to shadow in the trees.

Harabi was amused at Kith's awkward scramble up the tree but her body was scolding her for her neglect. Relievied to no longer be on guard she hoped she could manage a couple hours rest before the prince came along with his army if he had one. Harabi trudged over to her pack her feet like lead weights. She waved to Sora so the elf would know she was back if she didn't know already then Harabi rummaged in her pack for her wool cloak it smelled slightly odd as if it had been wet and hadn't had a chance to dry properly but Harabi barely noticed the odor. She wrapped herself in the smelly old cloak and as she began to drift off she thought that she had never been more happy to go to sleep.

~What are you doing?~ Wheryn asked from the camp, standing a scant few feet away from where Harabi lay.
~Keeping watch, she needed some rest so I took her place.~ he replied, running his fingers over the fletching on one of his arrows. He restrained a grin, for Wheryn mind voice had a distinct ring of bossiness and worry in it, as if he were a foal who couldn't look after himself. He berated hiself softly as he blocked her from his mind for he had been neglecting his watch whilst he talked with her. The soft rustle of leaves was all he heard and the swaying of branches was all he saw.
It was so easy to believe that nothing was wrong, that he was the only thing here in this forest. He shook his head, trying to clear the feeling of solitude from it and looked up, the cloud of carrion swirled agitatedly in the air as if restless for their promised feast.

The Prince was finally ready he had armored himself and was ready to call his followers to attention. He felt the angry feelings coming from his friends of the skies, they hungered for their promised meat. They're black beaks shone with a deadly and menacing sheen. The time had come the storm had gathered and now it was time to unleash it's fury.
The prince sent a black mist snaking through the forest. It was his hunting dog running ahead to bring tidings of fear to the enemies of it's master. It hunted for the group by the lake searching with the precision of something alive. It found Kith first coiling up the tree wrapping him in it's dark tendrils wispering of horrors and suffering. After finding Kith it continued onward black and cold arms of mist coiled around Wheryn, Harabi and Sora. The cold fear it brought awakened Harabi instantly. Everyone at the lake got the message their enemy was on the move, the prince was coming soon. In less then an hour he would arrive there could be no escape, someone would not see the dawn on the morrow.

Kith stiffened, fighting back the shriek that strove to escape his mouth. Wheryn's fear and his own rose in dark, nauseating waves that threatened to crush him. No! he screamed mentally, though he knew not what he defied.
The tendrils wrapped around him and he could not contain his cry of disgust, he fell back, almost falling out of the tree. He clutched the branch tightly with one hand, his bow in the other.
~Kith! Kith, are you okay?~ Wheryn's worried mind voice sliced through his fear.
~I'm fine, but I can hardly see through this horrible mist.~ he replied, finally able to control his emotions. He slowly climbed down the tree, there was no point keeping watch now, he could hardly see. ~I'm coming back to camp.~ he said. He felt her assent and relief as he walked warily back towards the others.

(lol, sorry I disappeared for so long, I got suddenly grounded by my sis, and couldn't get on ^^') Sora started to her feet as she Harabi walk over. She looked around with sharp, clear blue eyes as the black mist swirled about them. She cursed lightly under her breath and looked around. She closed her eyes, opening up her 'mind's eye.' ~Everyone alright?~ she thought to them all, her mind-voice sounding concerned and worried as well as calm. She looked around, watching everyone.
Sapphire blinked, since she was in the water, she wasn't affected by the mist. ~Troublesome indeed. Apparantly he is coming.~ she thought, her voice calm and slightly tinged with worry as she glanced around beneath the waves.

Thr mist began to fade away it had acomplished it's task, first off it had found all the travelers and secondly it had struck first bringing fear and bad feelings to the group near the lake. The Prince would be pleased with the fright his mist caused among his enemies.
Harabi had not escaped the mist's terrible affects it had awoken her and she had no chance to enjoy the refreshed feeling that comes from taking a nap. Instantly she was subjected to the choking mist. It felt like an evil moth's wings fluttering against her face unerving and strange. The terrifing sensations did not cause her as great a fear as another might have experienced because she had been exposed to the horrors of the Prince's power before and quite soon she regained her composure and she began to chant once more. The repeating sylables of her battle chant began drown out the wisperings of the mist and soon she felt her spirits began to regain confidence. Her chants rose in volume and intensity showing Harabi's defiance of the Prince. She knew that this group she was now a part of would not be beated by nothing more then mist.

Sora glanced towards Harabi, then her now icey and sharp blue gaze darted about, simply watching. She appeared completly relaxed, though there was a subtle tenseing of her muscles. She drew the string on her bow tight, all she now had to do was aim and with a thought she would let fly one of her deadly arrows. She backed till she was at the bank of the lake, the breeze ruffling her long hair about her. ~Fairly full of himself isn't he?~ she asked the others, her mind-voice sounding with grim humor.
Sapphire submerged herself in the lake, seeking shelter and power in the water. She had become basically invisable, as her scales blended in the water. Not an air bubble was released from her mouth, and since she was a water dragon, she would not have to emerge to draw breath.

Harabi began to do an intricate manuever with her staff as the blade whirled about in arcs of silver, but even the concentration of her practice failed to distract her from the impending battle. She soon gave up the attempt and went over to Sora exchanging a grim smile with the elf warrior. Harabi wasn't worried about dying because she had nothing to live for. Harabi was afterall a homeless traveler with no destination. What worrried her was the fact the her life would bring power to the prince so he could torture others. She began to wonder whether the mist had harmed Kith since she had seen him last when they changed watch. Harabi looked over to Whyern to see if she was agitated, she appeared calm so Harabi guessed that Kith was alright...for now.
Just as she concluded that Kith was fine a movement to the right drew her attention. She quickly spun to face it and found seated in the tree was a huge carrion bird. Already the flock began to land around the lake. Soon the sky grew dark with their numbers. Harabi knew it would be futile to try and kill them besides she had to save her strenth for the birds' master. They watched her and Sora with a beastial intelligence aware that the elf and human could be dinner. Their calls sounded harsh like stone scraping on stone thundering through the area by the lake. Within minutes the prince would appear and he would undoubtably ask for a surrender, but of course the five by the lake would never agree.

Wheryn shied away from the birds, head flung back and eyes wide. A plaintive whinny escaped her and she pranced nervously. Though she was more intellligient than most horses from exposure to Kith's magic, the smell of death on the birds pushed her closer to the edge of blind panic.
Kith heard the whinny and plunged towards it, cursing the branches that slapped him in the face. He had been listening to Sora talk in his mind, but hadn't replied for his fear would have alarmed the others more than was necesary. Even though he had repressed it, it still lurked there, a fierce, resonating undertone in his mind that intensified as he heard Wheryn's neigh. He emerged after a few yards of this pace, and stumbled into the camp, panting, amber eyes wide. He had barely missed running into Harabi and Sora, Wheryn who ha been standing a bit away from them, lunged towards him, seeking comfort.
She thrust her head into his chest, whuffing anxiously as he tried to calm her. He noticed the birds and looked questioningly at Harabi, the look on the two women's faces confirmed his thought. He must be coming...

Sora watched as Harbai practiced once, giving a nod at the others skill. She turned as she heard Wheryn whinny, then saw Kith almost run into them. ~Apparantly he is near.~ she thought to them, making sure that only they heard the thought. She stepped forward, hesitating, then laid a comforting hand upon Wheryn's shoulder. She felt the horse's warmth through her hand, though she knew Wheryn would feel a cool, almost icey touch from where her palm rested. For to most others, the sapphires entwinned with silver and embedded there were cold or icey to the touch. ~It shall be alright.~ she thought to the horse, her mind-voice calm and reassuring.
Sapphire lurked in the water, noticing the birds as they landed. She snorted softly, swimming in the water, and circling the rim of the lake. She was fairly close to the surface, though she suddenly flicked her tail into the air, and dove towards the bottom. She lurked there now, with the Prince so close, it would be easier to get a surprise attack in from the water.

As if in answer to Wheryn's fears a breeze came up spinning around in a vortex of mud and lake water. The ravens and crows grew agitated and ascended into the sky in a chilling exodus cawing and screaming like damned souls. A cold drizzle began to fall dripping down the backs of all by the lakeshore and sending up shivers of fear and cold. The trees began to droop like a tulip left too long out of water because the dark magic interfered with their essiential earth magic.
The Prince emerged from the forest in a haze of his black mists of death. He looked like a giant metalic bird his helmet elongated into a beaklike point and his black cloak flared out like the folded wings of a vulture. Every part of him glittered with the cold metal of blades. His hair hung down out of the helmet in greasy uncombed strands that looked like the tails of rats. His menacing smile opened up to reveal teeth black with decay he was altogether the most repulsive creature ever to be seen in these forests. Behind him stood about twenty soldiers, they were evil men who in their lust for power and riches entwined their fates with the Prince's. Their souls were as corrupt and repulsive as the Prince's would have been if he had not parted with it. One came forward waving the white flag of truce but the flag meant nothing because these men couldn't be trusted as far as you could throw them.
"Creatures of the lake, The Prince of Hate wishes to grant you the chance to surrender. To think you could defeat him is folly do not dilusion yourself with thoughts of victory, your insubstancial magics will never hope to compete with his madjesty's. If you surrender to his power your deaths will be as painless as possible. If you refuse to surrender then you will face The Prince in battle. You will have one hour to make your decision." and with that the man withdrew back into the ranks of his peers.
Harabi knew what she would say to the chance of surrender and she guessed what the others would say as well, From what Harabi knew of her companions especially Sora told her that surrender was not an option . Harabi looked over at Sora and asked her to give the Prince their answer courtesy of her bow. A shot straight through the heart of one of The Prince's soldiers would clear things up about the surrender issue. Harabi smiled but the action never reached her eyes in her heart she was grim.

Sora smiled grimly in answer to them, nodding her head to Harabi. She raised her bow, the string taunt but no arrow visiable. "I beleive the answer lies in all of your deaths." she said, her voice calm, and icey as she stared at them with equeally icey blue eyes. "Oh, and whoever said our magic was insubstantial?" she asked. She released the stringe, easily pulling it back once more as in shot of another arrow. As soon as it left the bow, an arrow appeared in the air. It shimmered through the darkness, illuminating everything. It was a shot of pure light melded into the form of an arrow. It buried itself in the soldiers dark heart, disappearing as the magic infused him, burning him.

Wheryn had calmed a bit at Sora's touch, and now she stood, neck arched and nostrils flared as the Prince and his group of men stood there. Neither of them flinched as the arrow struck the man, both looking on with a cool air of indifference.
Kith swung his own bow into position, having already knocked an arrow, he drew the string back until the fletching brushed his cheek and part of his ear. However, he did not loose though he took careful aim, sighting along the shaft of his arrow at the Prince.
Wheryn, who could fight as well as any two men, stood protectively at his side, teeth now bared in a grim parody of a smile, ears laid flat back against her skull. Her expression gave no doubt as to her intentions, she would strike down any who came within her range though she would not long leave Kith's side as long as he stood his ground to fire arrows.
